Day 97 - Read Deuteronomy 19-20

Jul 29, 2024

God designated cities of refuge for people who killed another person without intent. Those guilty of killing with intent were to be punished by death. Convicting someone of a crime required two or three witnesses. If a single witness accused someone of a crime, the dispute would go to the priests to be resolved. If the witness was found to be a liar, he would receive the punishment he sought for the one he accused of the crime. Israel was instructed to trust God and He would bring them success in battle, no matter how large their enemies might be. God demanded purity in the people of Israel. They were to destroy their enemies, as well as idols and instruments of worship to other gods when they entered the promised land.
