Day 140 - Read 1 Samuel 20-21

Sep 10, 2024

Jonathan vowed to protect David from Saul. David and Jonathan devised a plan to test Saul’s intentions toward David. It was custom for David to eat with the king during the celebration of the new moon, at the beginning of the month. David told Jonathan he would hide in the fields during the meals and Jonathan could test Saul’s response to David’s absence. Saul was angry with David, and with Jonathan for protecting David. Jonathan returned to David to tell him of Saul’s response, then they went their separate ways. David sought bread from the priest at Nob. The priest gave him bread and the sword belonging to Goliath the Philistine, whom David killed. David fled to Gath and pretended to be insane to protect himself from the king.
