Day 108 - Read Joshua 7-8

Joshua sent about 3,000 men to conquer Ai, but they were defeated. God told Joshua the defeat was the result of Israel disobeying His command not to take any devoted things for themselves. Achan and his wife were found guilty of taking a portion of the spoil and hiding it for themselves. Achan, his family, and all his possessions were taken to the Valley of Achor and were destroyed. The Lord’s anger was cooled. God gave Ai to Israel in battle, the people were killed, the city was destroyed, and the king was hanged. Joshua built an altar to the Lord, wrote a copy of the Law on the stones, and read the blessing and the curse as directed in the Book of the Law given through Moses.
