Day 49 - Read John 17-18

Jesus sought to glorify the Father. He prayed for the protection of all His disciples from the evil one. Disciples of Christ are in the world, but not of the world. Jesus desired His disciples to experience unity and love. Judas betrayed Jesus. Jesus stopped Peter from protecting Him so Jesus could submit to the Father’s plan. Jesus was questioned by the high priest’s father-in-law. Peter denied Jesus. Jesus was questioned by the high priest, and Peter denied Him a second and third time. Jesus was taken to the governor (Pilate) to be questioned, but Pilate found no fault in Him. Pilate offered to release Jesus, but the Jews insisted he release Barabbas, a robber.
