Day 115 - Read Joshua 21-22

The Levites (descendants of Aaron) were given land, including pasturelands for their animals according to the command of God to Moses. The Levites were given a total of forty-eight cities and the pastureland around each city. All of God’s promises concerning the land was fulfilled. The tribes who settled east of the Jordon (Reuben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh) fulfilled their promise to fight with all of Israel for the land promised and were released to return to their land with instruction to keep the Lord’s commandments, to cling to Him, and to serve Him with all their hearts and souls. These tribes built an altar and named it “Witness” because it was a reminder for their people that the Lord is God.
