Day 218 - Read Nehemiah 8-9

The people gathered. Ezra read the Book of the Law to them from early morning until midday, and the people were attentive. The Levites explained and helped the people understand what was read to them. They rejoiced in the Lord (“He is their strength”) and went their way to eat and drink. They celebrated the Feast of Booths as commanded by the Lord in the Book of the Law. The people wept and confessed their sins. They remembered the sin of their people and the forgiveness and grace of God toward them. They recognized God’s justice and mercy, as well as His commitment to the covenant He made with them.
