Day 41 - Read Exodus 21-22

Laws were given to instruct how Israel was to treat servants. These words do not justify the act of slavery. We must understand that God chose to reveal Himself through a people (Israel) who were servants, and owned servants. We must love all people as God loves them. God provided laws through Moses concerning restitution and laws concerning social justice. We may struggle with these laws and their implication, but we must not end our reading here. Jesus fulfilled the Law and pointed us to the true understanding of love for one another.
