Day 170 - Read 2 Kings 1-2

Ahaziah, king of Israel, fell through lattice in Samaria. He sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub whether he would live or die. Elijah went to the messengers and told them Ahaziah would not live because he did not honor God. Ahaziah sent two groups of men, each consisting of fifty men plus their captain, who were all consumed with fire. The third group of fifty and their captain humbled themselves before Elijah. He went with them to the king. He spoke God’s message to Ahaziah, and Ahaziah did not live. Elisha stayed with Elijah until he saw God take him in a whirlwind. Elisha was recognized as a prophet by the people. Elisha was used by God to purify water of a spring. Boys mocked Elisha, and two she-bears tore forty-two of the boys.
