God’s response after Jesus’ baptism clearly shows the relationship between God the Father and God the Son. Jesus’ baptism was a righteous act of obedience to His Father. The baptism that believers take part in is, at its core, involved in following Jesus’ example. It is also a response to the call for disciples to be baptized in Matthew 28.

SCRIPTURE FOCUS:  Matthew 3:1-17, 28:16-20; Leviticus 16:3-5; John 1:29-39

TALK ABOUT IT:

• What stood out to you while learning about Jesus’ baptism? 
• How did this lesson impact your own understanding of why followers are baptized? 
• If your student has not been baptized, allow room for them to consider if they would like to pursue baptism. If they have already been baptized, help them reflect on the importance of that. 

This week, students saw that nothing can take away or separate them from God’s love. This week challenged students to stop living as if their relationship with God is fragile and to see God’s love as unbreakable.
