Day 280 - Read Psalm 120-127

Today we will read a portion of the Songs of Ascents. These songs were sung by Jewish pilgrims as they ascended the southern steps in Jerusalem to worship the Lord during annual feasts. Notice how the songs bring total focus on the Lord as they prepare for worship. The songs praise the Lord for His protection and deliverance. The psalmist remembered the deeds of the Lord and trusted the Lord for continued peace for Israel. The psalmist asked for blessings and success throughout his generation and the generations to come. He considered his offspring a reward from the Lord to His people for their obedience.
