Day 179 - Read 2 Kings 18-19

Hezekiah, the son of Ahaz began to reign in Judah at the age of twenty-five in the third year of Hoshea, son of Elah. He reigned for twenty-nine years. Hezekiah followed the Lord and worshipped Him alone. Sennecherib, king of Assyria went up against the fortified cities of Judah and took them. He condemned Hezekiah and the Lord before the people. Hezekiah sought God and Isaiah prophesied that God would not allow the king of Assyria to take Jerusalem but would force him to return in the same way he arrived. The angel of the Lord struck down 185,000 men in the camp of the Assyrians. Sennecherib’s sons, Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down. His son Esarhaddon reigned in his place.
