Day 215 - Read Nehemiah 1-3

Nov 24, 2024

The house of the Lord was rebuilt. The walls and gates protecting the city of Jerusalem remained damaged, leaving the people of Israel volatile to their enemies. Nehemiah, a cupbearer to the king of Persia received word that the exiles who returned to Jerusalem were in trouble. He asked God for forgiveness of his sins and for success and mercy in the site of the king. The king showed mercy to Nehemiah and allowed him to go to Jerusalem with letters to grant him safety and all that was needed to rebuild the wall and the gates. Sanballat and Tobiah tried to deter the people of Israel from building the wall. The men of Israel took responsibility for sections of the wall and began repairing and replacing the wall around Jerusalem.
