Day 157 - Read 2 Samuel 23-24

David reminded Israel of the way God used him and spoke through him to God’s people. David spoke according to the word of God and was blessed. There were mighty men among him who successfully fought the enemies of Israel. The anger of the Lord kindled against Israel (specific reason is not given). David’s response was not pleasing to God. He ordered a count of the men of Israel. There were 800,000 men of the sword in Israel, and 500,000 men of Judah. God gave David three options to choose from as punishment for rebelling against God. David chose a pestilence on Israel as a punishment, and 70,000 men died as a result. David built an altar to God and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. God spared Israel.
