One of the most fun parts of Christmas is receiving gifts. You might even start writing a list of things you want for Christmas months ahead of time. Then you have to try to be patient as you wait for what seems like forever to open your presents. Something that’s just as fun as getting presents is giving them. As you make presents at school or home for the people you love or go to the store to buy things for them, you often think about how much they’ll enjoy their gifts. It’s all very exciting!

God loves to give us good gifts, too. In fact, there are different spiritual gifts God gives those who love and follow Him. These presents aren’t physical items, like a game or craft kit; they’re gifts meant to help us encourage others in a godly way. Your gift might be the natural ability to be compassionate and serve others, demonstrating God’s love and care. Or perhaps you are a really good teacher who is able to explain God’s Word in ways others can easily understand. Whatever it is, God gives you the power to use the gift He gives you to bring glory to Him and to bless others with His goodness.

What do you think are some of the special gifts God gives to those who love and follow Him?

Why does God give different people different gifts?

Sometimes, we need help to figure out a spiritual gift God has given us. As a family, talk about the special gifts from God that you see in each other. Discuss ways you can use these gifts to help other people. Pray together to thank God for these gifts and ask Him to teach you how to use them to give Him glory.
